Clinical Consultation & Supervision

Sunset over a sandy beach with gentle waves.

Clinical insight. Professional growth.

Clinical work can be deeply rewarding, but it can also be complicated. Whether you're an experienced therapist navigating a challenging case or a newer clinician developing your skills, having a place to think critically, explore different perspectives, and examine your own responses to the work can be invaluable.

At GK Behavioral Health, we offer individual clinical consultation and supervision grounded in thoughtful discussion, professional collaboration, and a commitment to developing strong clinical judgment.

Individual Clinical Consultation

Even experienced therapists encounter situations that challenge their understanding or leave them uncertain about how best to proceed.

Clinical consultation provides an opportunity to step outside the immediate demands of treatment and examine what's happening more closely. This may involve exploring a complex presentation, reconsidering a case formulation, understanding relational dynamics, or examining the ways a clinician's own responses influence the therapeutic process.

Consultation is not simply about identifying another intervention. It's about developing a deeper understanding of the clinical situation and using that understanding to inform more effective work.

Individual consultation is available for therapists at different stages of their careers, whether seeking perspective on a specific case or ongoing professional support.

Clinical Supervision for Social Workers Pursuing Licensure

The transition from graduate education to clinical practice involves more than accumulating supervised hours. It requires developing clinical judgment, learning to navigate uncertainty, and finding a professional approach that feels both effective and authentic.

We offer individual clinical supervision for social workers working toward LCSW licensure, including those seeking supervision outside their place of employment.

Supervision provides a space to examine clinical decisions, strengthen assessment and treatment-planning skills, navigate ethical and professional responsibilities, and reflect on the therapeutic relationship.

Our emphasis is on helping developing clinicians become thoughtful, capable, and increasingly confident in their work.

Eligibility for supervision hours toward licensure depends on applicable state requirements and the individual supervision arrangement.

Our Clinicians

Kristin Katz, LCSW

Clinical Consultation & Supervision

Kristin brings a direct, engaged, and relational approach to consultation and supervision. Her work emphasizes understanding the underlying dynamics that shape a client's presentation, the therapeutic relationship, and the larger systems in which difficulties develop and persist.

She is particularly interested in clinical situations that feel complicated, emotionally charged, or resistant to conventional interventions. Her approach encourages clinicians to look beyond presenting symptoms, examine their own responses to the work, and consider perspectives that may be uncomfortable but clinically important.

Areas of Clinical Focus

  • Personality-related patterns, including borderline and narcissistic traits
  • Complex family systems and high-conflict relationships
  • Parent–child dynamics across the lifespan
  • Relational trauma, attachment injuries, and infidelity
  • Therapeutic impasses, ruptures, and countertransference
  • Professional boundaries and challenging clinical decisions
  • Integrating psychodynamic, attachment-based, and evidence-informed approaches

Clinical Consultation Groups

Kristin also facilitates a small, established clinical consultation group for therapists working with complex presentations and relational dynamics.

The current group is not accepting new members. Clinicians interested in a future group are welcome to inquire.

Yisroel Goodman, LCSW

Clinical Consultation & Supervision

Yisroel offers a thoughtful, collaborative approach to consultation and supervision, helping clinicians strengthen their understanding of the therapeutic relationship and develop greater confidence in their clinical work.

His approach is informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and an emphasis on attachment, emotional experience, and the patterns that shape relationships. He has experience supervising developing clinicians and supporting their growth toward independent practice.

Areas of Clinical Focus

  • Couples therapy and relationship distress
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy and attachment-based approaches
  • Emotional disconnection and recurring relationship patterns
  • Trust, intimacy, and relational repair
  • Men's emotional and relational concerns
  • Sexuality and pornography-related concerns
  • Working with neurodivergent adults and couples
  • Developing foundational clinical skills and professional confidence

Group Consultation & Supervision

Yisroel has extensive experience facilitating groups and brings a collaborative, engaging approach to group learning. He is interested in developing consultation and supervision groups for clinicians seeking opportunities to strengthen their clinical skills, explore challenging cases, and learn from one another's perspectives.

Clinicians interested in participating in a future group are welcome to inquire.

Finding the Right Fit

Consultation and supervision are most useful when there is a good fit between the clinician's needs and the experience and approach of the person providing support.

Whether you're seeking help with a challenging case, looking for ongoing professional consultation, or pursuing clinical licensure, we welcome the opportunity to discuss which clinician may be the best fit.
